I Was Here.
I love Beyoncé.
I love her dance anthems, her beautiful love ballads, and of course her strong, independent women-statement songs. But there's one song in particular that I truly connect with. ‘I was here’ has a message so powerful to me that it's become a feature of my morning meditation.
This is a song about something I am openly deeply passionate about - personal legacy.
Leaving something behind in this world to show that you were here. Making a contribution to touch the lives of others, and remembering that we're here for a purpose greater than what may always be obvious.
I have a ritual of finishing my morning walk by sitting on the beach, looking out on to the water and listening to the lyrics of this song. I'm left overwhelmed with emotion each and every time.
This small, seemingly insignificant habit allows me to start each day being mindful of the fact that I am here, on this earth for a reason and that I want to make my mark.
I want my life to be purposeful, and that's something I can work towards every single day.
How do you want to be remembered?
What story do you want to leave behind?
Let's do amazing things with our time so our legacies are felt long after we're gone.
Do yourself a favour and take a few minutes to listen to the song below.
I just want them to know
That I gave my all, did my best
Brought someone to happiness
Left this world a little better just because
I was here.
